Namsai: Three key components under the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) System in Arunachal Pradesh—the 33 kV section of the 132 kV Niglok Sub-station, the 33 kV Niglok–Ruskin line, and the 33 kV Oyan Sub-station—were successfully commissioned on Thursday, officials said.
The update came during a high-level review meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein at the DC’s Conference Hall in Namsai. The meeting, which lasted over five hours, focused on assessing the progress of the scheme and addressing bottlenecks in its implementation.
Mein reviewed the status of the ongoing works and enquired about reasons for delays, while emphasizing the importance of a timely and coordinated approach to meet the state’s rising power demands.
“With several hydropower projects underway, it is essential to have a robust transmission and distribution network ready for immediate power evacuation and distribution,” Mein said. He also recalled the recent Power Steering Committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu in Tawang to fast-track the state’s hydropower development.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to expedite all pending works under the scheme and maintain close coordination with the district administration, power department, and local legislators to ensure smooth ground-level execution.
The meeting reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening the power sector to ensure energy security and sustainable growth, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
